With over 20 years of UK Fell and mountain walking and scrambling, our group of 15 have remained good friends. Every year in February there is a week in the Lake District followed by a series of day walks throughout the rest of the year. The last 8 years have seen a spin-off summer group tackling some challenging Via ferrata and walking routes in the Dolomites, Slovenia and Andorra(above) along with an indoor climbing group spending a day a week at a local climbing wall.
2022 saw us return to Cortina in the Italian Alps otherwise known as the Dolomites for 4 great days of sun, climbing and of course beer.

While I was licking my wounds, four from our team took on a 4 day, roof of Slovenia mountain trek, hopping between mountain huts in mixed and occasionally challenging conditions. With some very long bur rewarding days this stretched to the group to the limit. I have been instructed to make next year less pain and more luxury. Well, we will see.
It wasn't all bad though.
After years of scrimping and trying to keep accommodation costs to a minimum, we have decided to enjoy the week in comfort. With 10 on-suite rooms this should provide us with a luxury experience in our favourite part of the country. Kegs of beer are provided by the Mistyfell team to make the experience, even more special.
2024 was the year of hut to hut in Austria. Five of the team flew out for a memorable few days high in the Austrian Alps.
The huts are basic but provide a comfortable bed, a hot meal and as much beer as you can manage. W hat more do you want?
This year we were back in Grasmere and an ex. Youth Hostel called Thorney How. After over 25 years we never tire of the beauty and the majesty of the place. This winter we even had some snow on the tops, something rare in modern times.
